What is RFID?

Radio Frequency Identification technology enables to identify objects and people in movement, through smart labels or "tags" receiving and transmitting short range radio frequency. The memory of the micro-chip inserted in the tag contains information that help identifying the object to which it is applied, without requiring contact to be read. Nowadays, this technology has reached a degree of maturity that guarantees:

Developing an RFID project means building a chain of operations over data gathered by one or more sources, in order to make that data available to other systems or people using that information on the Decision Making process. Since business environment and processes speed vary in any project, it is fundamental to dispose of a modular software, customizable directly in production environment and created to privilege configuration with respect to software codification. onID enables:

onID is based on the concept of modularity: the logical process of reading, elaborating and transforming data can be implemented dynamically through the composition of basic blocks, called "processors". They are connected to each other through a centralized, completely visual instrument for governance and planning, without any need to write the code and install it.

Processors manage every component of the system:

      RFID reading points
      Barcode readers
      Photocells
      Access controllers
      Database
      User-generated inputs

Data, after being cross-checked and processed according to specific logics, can be exported via different means (web service calls, writing on database, raw data flows, ASCII files movement, etc) but they can also drive directly a variety of events (mail/SMS notification, RFID or barcode printers, physical gates and stoplights).

onID is endowed with:

      Auto- diagnosis capabilities
      Fault Tolerance
      Clustered Installment Option, to keep functioning despite hardware failures.

In addition, it is also possible to take actions to face malfunctioning, such as alert message sending and starting/interrupting new processes or applications.
